Adam Korson's Review of the Hydra

Sanavia Hydra

We Built Sanavia for People Who Are Done Settling for Tap Water

When we built Sanavia, we had one goal: give people genuinely clean water at home without making them think about it. No bulky tank taking up cabinet space, no complicated maintenance schedule, no wondering whether the filter is actually working. Just clean water, on demand, every time you turn the faucet.

Adam Korson recently installed the Hydra in his South Carolina home and posted a full review after living with it. He came to us the same way most of our customers do. He learned what was actually in his water, tried RO for the first time, and quickly realized he wanted something permanent. We gave him a unit to test and told him to be straight with his audience. Here is what he found.

The install

Adam did it himself. For anyone outside our professional installation range in the Arlington and DC area, the DIY process is straightforward. The system connects to your cold water supply via an included T-kit, routes wastewater to the drain with a saddle clamp, and delivers filtered water through a dedicated faucet. It plugs into a standard outlet. No special electrical work required. The unit footprint with hoses comes out to 23" by 7", so it sits in a narrow strip of cabinet and leaves the rest of the space untouched. That was a hard requirement for Adam going in, and it is something we hear from nearly every customer who looks at under-sink options.

How it works

The Hydra uses five-stage filtration. Sediment catches sand, rust, and particulates. Carbon removes chlorine and the chemicals that make treated tap water taste and smell off. A carbon block stage handles organic chemicals and disinfection byproducts the first carbon stage can miss. The RO membrane filters out PFAS, lead, arsenic, and nitrates. The final stage adds minerals back in before the water reaches your glass.

That last stage is one we are proud of. Most RO systems strip everything out and leave flat, mineral-free water. We added a remineralization post-filter because the taste difference is real. Adam had used RO water without it before and said the comparison was not close. He now uses the Hydra as his household's primary water source. Flow rate fills a standard cup in about 10 seconds. The system runs quietly, no louder than any other kitchen appliance, and stops the moment you close the faucet.

What it removes

City treatment was not built for what is in water today. The Hydra removes heavy metals, VOCs, pesticides, PFAS compounds, bacteria, viruses, and endocrine disruptors. Adam specifically mentioned the endocrine disruptors. He has young children and a growing family. That category mattered to him, and it is exactly the kind of thing we built Sanavia to address.

PFAS are synthetic chemicals that do not break down in the body or the environment. They have been found in water supplies across the country, in communities with no obvious industrial source nearby. Standard pitcher filters do not touch them. The RO membrane in the Hydra does. We back every claim with independent lab testing. The full results are on our product page with plain-language explanations of what each number means. We publish them because we have nothing to hide.

Maintenance

Both filters last 12 months. Bundled together, replacements cost $125 per year, roughly $10 a month. When it is time to swap them, the fault light and the corresponding filter indicator tell you. The system flushes itself after every use. Both filters share the same lifespan, so there is one replacement order and one date to remember. Adam looked at other systems with staggered filter schedules and said the simplicity here stood out.

Warranty and returns

Every Hydra comes with a 60-day return window, a full refund, and no restocking fee. There is a three-year warranty standard on every unit. We stand behind what we sell.

Adam's take

He liked the on-demand water, the taste, the small footprint, the low maintenance, and the return policy. He spoke with us directly and said he genuinely believes we stand behind the product. We do.

His words: "This system has been great for me and my family. We put such a big emphasis on having healthy habits, and I love knowing that we're drinking truly clean water 24/7."
