Advanced Water Purification Technology

Understanding how our filtration systems deliver pure, clean water

What is Reverse Osmosis (RO) ?

A water purification process that forces water through a semi-permeable membrane, filtering out contaminants. The RO membrane allows only pure water molecules to pass through, making it one of the most effective purification technologies available today.
  • Removes heavy metals (lead, arsenic, mercury)
  • Eliminates fluoride, nitrates, sulfates
  • Filters viruses, bacteria, microplastics
  • Removes PFAS (forever chemicals)
Up to 99% impurity removal

What is a Activated Carbon Filter?

Uses porous carbon material derived from coconut shells to remove chlorine, chloramines, and volatile organic compounds. It improves taste and odor while trapping organic contaminants that RO may miss.
  • Removes chlorine and chloramines
  • Eliminates volatile organic compounds
  • Improves taste and odor
  • Reduces pharmaceutical residues

Why Combine RO + Carbon Filtration?

Together, these two technologies create a multi-barrier system that addresses nearly all major contaminant groups

RO Membrane

Strengths

Removes inorganic compounds, heavy metals, microbes

Weakness

Less effective on chlorine or VOCs

Carbon Filter

Strengths

Removes chlorine, VOCs, taste/odor

Weakness

Doesn't remove heavy metals or microbes

Combined Benefits

  • Comprehensive removal of chemical, microbial, and organic pollutants
  • Significant reduction in microplastics and pharmaceutical residues
  • Superior taste and safety compared to tap or bottled water

RO + Carbon vs. Tap & Bottled Water

Tap Water Risks

80% of U.S. tap water contains microplastics
  • Aging infrastructure introduces lead and copper
  • Legal limits for arsenic and nitrate are outdated
  • Unregulated PFAS, pharmaceuticals, and microplastics
  • EPA regulation gaps for emerging contaminants

Bottled Water Risks

2x more microplastics than tap water
  • Often just filtered tap water (Dasani, Aquafina)
  • Microplastics from plastic packaging
  • FDA regulation less strict than EPA
  • Independent testing shows contamination

What Do Reverse Osmosis + Carbon Filters Remove?

Compare filtration effectiveness across different water sources

Contaminant Tap Water Bottled Water Carbon Only RO + Carbon
Lead Common in homes with old pipes Sometimes present 95–99% removed
Chlorine/Chloramines Added for disinfection Sometimes present Removed Removed
Fluoride Added in most U.S. cities Variable Up to 95% removed
PFAS Found in 45%+ of U.S. tap water Sometimes present Up to 99% removed
Microplastics Found in ~81% globally Found in 90%+ bottled Reduced
Heavy Metals Common in U.S. regions Sometimes present 90–99% removed
Nitrates/Nitrites Rural fertilizer runoff Sometimes present 90–99% removed
Pharmaceuticals Detected in many cities Often untested Reduced
Pesticides/Herbicides Can leach into supplies Not always tested ⚠️ Partial Removed
Bacteria & Viruses Distribution risks Usually disinfected Removed
Taste/Odor Compounds Often present Plasticky Removed Removed

Heavy Metals

Corroded pipes and groundwater contamination introduce metals like lead and arsenic. These pose risks to brain and kidney health and to child development. RO removes 95–99% of lead, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, and mercury, while carbon has limited effect on metals.

PFAS ("Forever Chemicals")

PFAS enter water from firefighting foam, industrial waste, and non-stick coatings. They are linked to cancer, immune dysfunction, and hormonal disruption. RO removes more than 99% of PFAS, and carbon also adsorbs many PFAS compounds.

Microplastics

Microplastics come from pipe erosion, bottled water, and synthetic clothing fibers. They have potential impacts on hormone balance, immunity, and gut health. RO membranes with pore sizes of 0.0001 microns filter most microplastics, while carbon can capture associated chemicals.

Disinfection Byproducts

Chlorine reacting with organic matter in water produces disinfection byproducts like THMs and HAAs. These are linked to bladder cancer and other health issues. RO systems effectively remove these compounds while carbon provides additional protection.
