How the Hydra's 5 stages work
Cold tap water goes in, passes five stages in order, and comes out of its own faucet. There is no storage tank: water is filtered the moment you open the tap, at up to 800 gallons a day. What the membrane holds back is flushed down the drain.
- InCold water line
- 1
Sediment
Catches sand, rust and grit so they can't clog the stages after it.
- 2
Carbon
Takes out chlorine and chloramine, the chemical taste and smell of treated water.
- 3
Carbon block
A denser carbon stage for the organic chemicals and disinfection byproducts carbon can hold.
- 4
Reverse osmosis membrane
Pushes water through a membrane that holds back dissolved contaminants such as PFAS, lead, arsenic and nitrate, and sends them to the drain. It lives in the 800G ROCB cartridge.
- 5
Post-filter
Adds some minerals back after the membrane, for taste, on the way to the faucet.

“Amazing Water Quality... Wish We Had Done This Sooner! We absolutely love our Sonavia water filtration system! We previously had filters on several faucets throughout our house, thinking we were getting great water quality. Turns out, there’s no comparison to the reverse osmosis system Sonavia provides. The water tastes noticeably better, and one of my favorite little perks is making crystal-clear ice cubes! We’ve also been able to cut back significantly on buying bottled water. But here's what really sold me: the numbers don't lie. Our unfiltered tap water tested at 270 PPM (total dissolved solids). After installing Sonavia, that reading dropped by approximately 90%! My advice? Buy yourself a $9 water testing kit and see the difference for yourself. I think you'll be amazed at what's coming out of your tap versus what you're drinking after filtration. I highly recommend Sonavia to any household looking to upgrade its drinking water and ditch the bottled water habit. One of the best upgrades we've made to our home!”
“Good communication, fast shipment, eveything as pictured”
“I recently had a reverse osmosis water infiltration system installed, and I’m so happy with the results. The water tastes amazing, and the difference is noticeable right away. The installers did an excellent job with the setup and explained everything clearly. The company also did a great job explaining the process to me and helping me understand how reverse osmosis water works. Overall, great service and a great experience. I highly recommend Sanavia Water company.”
“Best decision for our home, the water takes wonderful - clean and crisp. We have stopped buying bottled water! The installation was easy and the instructions were clear. We highly recommend this system to everyone!”

A tankless system like the Hydra filters water the moment you open the tap, while a tank system filters slowly into a storage tank and serves you from that. Going tankless frees up cabinet space, gives you freshly filtered water rather than water that sat in a tank, and never runs out the way a tank can. The Hydra makes up to 800 gallons a day.
Yes. The Hydra comes with its own faucet, plus all the tubing and fittings. The faucet mounts in a spare sink hole or in a hole drilled in the countertop, next to your kitchen faucet.
About every 12 months: Sanavia's guidance is to replace both cartridges together, and the filter bundle ($125) is both of them. Heavy use or water with more sediment wears them out sooner, and on a tankless system slower flow at the faucet is the sign it's time.
About 45 minutes for most kitchens, following the included step-by-step guide, plus a 30-minute automatic rinse before first use. Around Washington, DC, you can choose professional installation instead: $1,250 installed, or $999 to install it yourself.
Yes. We ran a real-world test: we sent a single-family Arlington, VA home's kitchen tap water and the same water after the Hydra system to an independent accredited laboratory (Microbac Laboratories, via Tap Score/SimpleLab) under standard EPA methods. The tap water came back over the health-based guideline for three disinfection byproducts. After the Hydra, total trihalomethanes (THMs) dropped 95% (58 to 2.79 ppb), and copper, sulfate, barium, strontium and total dissolved solids were all reduced by roughly 72-99%. You can see every measured number, with the lab report IDs, on our Arlington Test page at /proof.
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are synthetic "forever chemicals" used in nonstick cookware, waterproof fabrics, and firefighting foams. They persist in the environment and human body for decades and are linked to cancer, thyroid disorders, immune system issues, and reproductive problems. Our RO system's semi-permeable membrane has pores small enough to block large PFAS molecules while allowing water molecules to pass through, significantly reducing PFAS levels in your drinking water.
An adjustable wrench and a pair of scissors for the tubing, plus a towel or bucket for drips. Teflon tape, tubing and every fitting come in the box. You only need a drill with a hole saw bit if there is no spare sink hole for the faucet.
