For buyers
A home inspection rarely includes the water. Lead in particular comes from a house's own service line, pipes and fixtures, so two houses on the same street can test differently. Test during your inspection period, including a certified lab test for lead, while there is still time to ask questions.
For sellers
Know your water before a buyer asks. A test before listing means no surprises in negotiation, and a filter already under the sink is one less question at a showing.
For agents
Offer clients a free water test as part of the process. Agents can also join our referral and rep program and earn on any system a client buys.
What we test
Our free in-home test measures the total dissolved solids (TDS) in the property's tap water: the overall level of minerals, salts and metals dissolved in it. We explain the reading before we leave, and the visit takes about 45 minutes.
For the public supply, every city and county we serve has its own report of what EWG and EPA testing found. Look up the property's zip code.
Homes on a well
Private wells aren't covered by any utility's testing, and lenders often require a well test before closing. That test has to come from a state-certified laboratory; our free TDS test is a quick overall reading, not a substitute for it. Ask the lab about the contaminants common to wells here, such as nitrate, arsenic and radium.

Usually not for a home on public water, but many lenders and some states require a water test for homes on a private well, especially with FHA and VA loans. Ask your lender and agent early, because a lender-required test must come from a state-certified laboratory.
